Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for ideas on training use of zone 14 and the half spaces.
There are several concepts I'd like to focus on regarding getting the ball into Zone 14. First, developing play into Zone 14 when progressing from the middle third as opposed to playing into the wings. Second, cutting the ball back towards the penalty spot or the top of Zone 14 when it is wide and high near the end line rather than crossing or shooting.
I'd also like to work on concepts related to what to do once the ball is in Zone 14. First, I'd like to work on recognizing cues to make forward runs into the the 18 yard box at different angles behind defenders as they step into Zone 14 to pressure along with how to pass forward from zone 14 to find runners. Second, I'd like to work on how cues and technique for longer shots from Zone 14.
Regarding half spaces, I'd like to work on movement, positioning, and combination patterns for the 7 and 11 in which they occupy the half space as they near the opponent's goal rather than staying wide - specifically looking at inverted winger scenarios. Finally, I'd like to work on cues, positioning, and passing options for central midfielders to occupy the half spaces behind a narrowing front 3 with overlapping fullbacks.
Theme 01, Attacking Centrally, seems related but I'm wondering what suggestions you have. Thank you.
