Develop your team's defensive skills with this dynamic practice, designed to sharpen pressing as a cohesive unit. The session features two teams: the primary pressing team (Red) and the secondary possession team (Gold). The Red team's mission is to press as a unit, disrupt the possession, win the ball, and counterattack to score in one of the mini-goals. Each time a goal is scored or the play breaks down, the Gold team resets in possession to keep the intensity high. This practice not only builds teamwork and communication but also significantly enhances players' ability to press effectively and transition quickly, key skills for success in competitive matches. 🙌⚽️

💪 Defensive Recovery Runs | 27-P4

This practice develops players' defensive recovery runs in a dynamic and competitive setting. It begins with a 3 v 1 possession game in the first zone, where attackers aim to complete 5-10 passes before transitioning the ball to teammates in the end zone for a finishing attempt. The defender’s task is to press and screen, trying to win the ball in zone one or intercept during their recovery run into the end zone. If the defender gains possession, they must quickly play to their target player to score a goal for their team. Players rotate as the active defender and target player after each round. As one side completes their action, the other group starts, providing a natural recovery period between sets. 💪⚽️

This pre-season session is designed to boost both technical skills and physical endurance. We start with a technical passing practice, incorporating continuous movement to build passing accuracy while improving stamina. Next, we move into an overload game, where two teams compete to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities, while the third team works through an SAQ circuit to enhance their fitness. Finally, we end with a small-sided game that focuses on players making smart runs in behind the defence to score. This session helps players develop their passing skills, game awareness, and off-the-ball movement, all while building their fitness levels.

🔥 Pre-Season 104: Exploit Overloads & SAQ Circuit

This pre-season practice is designed to enhance players' ability to make penetrating passes, support play, and build speed and endurance. The session takes place in a 20 by 20-yard area, split diagonally into two zones with mini goals in each corner. Three teams rotate through the activities: one team works through a physical circuit on the outside, while the other two teams compete in a 3 v 2 overload game in the central area. The attacking team looks to pass through the defence to reach the next zone, creating overloads and finishing opportunities. If the defenders win possession, they counter-attack towards the opposite mini goal. After every few attacks, the teams rotate, ensuring all players engage in both physical and tactical elements of the practice.

🔥 Pre-Season 103: Sprint Races to Finish

This engaging pre-season practice hones players' sprinting and 2 v 2 game skills through a dynamic, fast-paced drill. The session kicks off with a sprint relay, where players tag their teammates to race across the pitch. Once the second tag is made, it triggers an intense 2 v 2 game. The team that completes the relay first gains possession from the coach and attacks the goal, while the opposing team defends and counters toward two mini goals. After each attack, players jog back to their stations to repeat the drill, alternating sides to experience attacking the large and smaller goals. This continuous cycle not only builds speed and endurance but also sharpens players' quick decision-making and teamwork under pressure. 🔥
