🔥 Defending the Overload | 13-P11

This practice is all about developing defenders' skills in handling various overload situations. It starts with a simple 2 v 1 challenge, but with each whistle blow, the pressure intensifies as attackers flood in, turning the drill into a 4 v 2, then a 6 v 4, and finally an 8 v 6 organised attack! Defenders need to be aware of the type of overload situation, communicate to maintain compactness and identify opportunities to make interceptions. 💪🔥

⚽️ Defend the Gates | 60-P3

It's time to focus on defending when outnumbered in this skill practice. The area is split into three zones, with the first zone having a 4 v 3 + 1 Floater possession objective. Once the attackers make 5 passes, they can progress into the middle zone where they will face a single defender. The defenders objective is to stop the attacker from driving through either of the three gates, and they are awarded with a goal if they win possession and pass to a teammate in the 1st zone. If the attacker drives through the gate, they must finish past the GK in a 1 v 1 scenario. Let's get our players defending with confidence!💪⚽️

🔥 1 v 1 Defensive Recovery Runs | 62-P3

This simple defensive practice focuses on developing defensive recovery runs and finishing in 1 v 1's. Players must develop their reactions to defend after their attack, ensuring no danger is conceded during these important transitions. We can shift the one mini goal to the other end to create diagonal recovery runs, just as we are likely to see in games. Let's get our players defending the goal with determination. 💪

⚽ Penetrating the Low Block | 80-P10

This phase of play practice takes place in a full half of a pitch and focuses on developing attackers ability to penetrate a low defensive block. Our attacking team are setup in a 433 up against a defensive block with two banks of 4 players. The objective is for the attacking team to move the ball around, stretching the defensive block and opening space to play penetrating passes between the lines or in behind to create goal scoring opportunities. If the defenders win possession, they must play out into either of the 4 mini goals. Breaking through a low block can pose challenges without a clear strategy, so let's ensure we're well-prepared for success in these situations!💪⚽️

🔥 Attacking Overloads in the Final Third | 86-P9

This functional practice focuses on enhancing possession skills and exploiting attacking advantages in the final third. It starts in the possession zone, where a 6 v 2 rondo intensifies the session. The aim is for the attacking team to complete 8 passes, transitioning to attacking teammates in open play (6 v 4). As the breakout pass occurs, the defensive fullback initiates their recovery run to stop the attack. If the defenders regain possession during the rondo or open play, they must combine or finish in either mini goal. 🙌⚽️

Switching the point of the attack is an important weapon that any team should have in their armoury. This wave practice focuses on developing this key aspect of the game. Teams will keep possession in the 4 v 2 Rondo before one player drops off to receive, and switches play across to the players in the opposite rondo. We can progress this practice by allowing teams to breakout and deliver a cross after a switch has been made, just as they would in a game scenario.💪

🔥 The Activation Square | Warm Up ( WU-32 )

We kickoff this week with a warm-up designed to prime players for the upcoming session, focusing on elevating their dribbling and passing skills. Players will dribble forward to the central square, leave the ball, run anticlockwise to collect another ball and pass it back to the next player in line. To elevate this warm-up, incorporate 1-2 combinations with middle players, increasing the amount of passes played, and to ensure our players remain alert. 🙌⚽️

🎉 Transitional Rondo | 88-P5

This transitional rondo focuses on pressing to regain, maintaining possession and exploiting numerical overloads. We have three zones, each with different overload scenarios, with the primary goal for the team in possession to break lines and advance to the next zone. The central players are tasked with seamless combination play, aiming to advance the ball and ultimately connect with the designated floater in the third zone, earning them a goal. Let's refine our players pressing, possession, and tactical decision-making skills, fostering a well-rounded and adept team ready for the challenges on the field! 🔥⚽️

🔥 2 v 2 Pressing Game | 59-P9
Do your players need help to co-ordinate their pressing? This practice focuses on developing this aspect of the game using 2 v 2 scenarios. Defenders must wait until the ball enters their zone to press quickly, working together to force direction and make interceptions to finish in the mini goals. Once players have worked a few rounds, we can increase the intensity of the press by lowering the amount of passes needed to switch play. Let's get our players winning possession! 🔥⚽️

🎉 Pass, Set and Move | 84-P5

Let's get our players activated with this excellent technical passing combination! Players will work through the sequence, playing sharp one and two touch passes, setting the ball for teammates and timing their movements to receive. Once players are getting into a good flow, we can introduce 1-2 combinations to increase the amount of passes in the sequence. 💪⚽️
